Job Description

The Repair Technician sets up, calibrates, tests, and troubleshoots complex electronic circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. This role follows detailed test process instructions, performs rework when needed, and supports a range of tasks related to computer hardware, servers, and associated equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, calibrate, and test complex circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies according to established procedures.
  • Follow detailed test process instructions (TPIs) to perform testing and verification of assemblies and systems.
  • Perform moderately complex troubleshooting of hardware, software, and electronic components to identify and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot and repair servers, computer hardware, and related mechanical assemblies.
  • Rework assemblies and systems based on test results, including reworking circuits and hardware components as needed.
  • Perform software troubleshooting and debugging to support diagnosis of technical issues.
  • Unpack, package, and move servers, racks, and related equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Apply labels, prepare crates, and ensure equipment is properly packaged and documented for shipment or storage.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, TPIs, and other manufacturing documentation to complete work accurately.
  • Use basic office applications such as word processors, spreadsheets, and databases to document work and communicate findings.
  • Document test results, troubleshooting steps, and repair actions in clear written form.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Follow all safety, ESD, and high-security procedures while working in manufacturing and test areas.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and electronic circuits and components.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of computer hardware and server systems.
  • Hands-on experience with computer assembly, hardware installation, and repair.
  • Ability to perform software troubleshooting and debugging to support issue resolution.
  • Experience working with mechanical assemblies in a manufacturing or repair environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and test process instructions (TPIs).
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing documentation and process instructions.
  • Proficiency with basic office applications, including word processors, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment and collaborate with others.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to document technical issues, troubleshooting steps, and findings in written form.
  • Solid general computer skills and comfort working with various software tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in electronics repair or data center hardware environments.
  • Familiarity with rework processes for electronic circuits and hardware assemblies.
  • Comfort working with test process instructions and structured quality procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions accurately.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.

Work Environment

You work across multiple buildings within a large, high-security technology company focused on data center solutions. The environment is clean and structured, with defined processes and procedures. You may stand for long periods of time and work around loud equipment, using ear protection as needed. Electrostatic discharge (ESD) controls are in place, requiring adherence to ESD safety practices when handling sensitive electronic components. The facility operates in a fast-changing, high-growth technology setting, with collaboration across teams and exposure to servers, storage, networking solutions, and related test and manufacturing equipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.50 - $27.00/hr.
