Job DescriptionPosition Description: The Membership Recruiting Associate helps the Membership team attract and retain girls and adults into Girl Scouts. In this role, you will help plan and set up recruitment events, talk to families, caregivers, and community members, and keep track of girls and adults interested in joining Girl Scouts Louisiana East (the Council).Your duties will include ensuring events and activities run smoothly by preparing materials, keeping records up to date, sending follow-up emails or calls, and supporting the Membership team at meetings and events. You will also attend school or community events to share what Girl Scouts is all about.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, agencies and leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions.
Create and deliver presentations to small and large groups utilizing effective persuasive, public speaking skills.
Lead recruitment events by setting up tables, handing out materials, answering questions, and helping sign up new girl members and adult volunteers.
Lead fun, hands-on activities at events to help girls and caregivers learn more about Girl Scouts in a welcoming and engaging way.
Help families and volunteers complete online or paper registrations for Girl Scouts and provide support if they have problems with the registration process.
Prepare materials and supplies for events (like flyers, activity kits, forms), keep track of who attends, and follow up with families afterward to encourage them to join.
Work closely with other team members and volunteers to help plan and carry out recruitment efforts and reach attendance or membership goals.
Explain what Girl Scouts is all aboutincluding how it helps girls grow in confidence and leadershipand answer questions from families and community members.
Always present a positive and professional image of Girl Scouts through your words, actions, and appearance at events, in person, and online; Welcome people of all backgrounds and help ensure every girl and adult feels included and valued in Girl Scouts; Follow Council rules and guidelines for safety, behavior, communication, and reporting; Be flexible and open to changes in your tasks or schedule based on the needs of the team or Council.Take on other tasks as needed to help your team meet its goals and support Girl Scout membership growth.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, and Certifications
Minimum age is 18 years old.
High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience assisting with or planning group events and/or participating in school, work, church or youth groups is preferred.
Experience organizing materials, and preparing handouts is preferred.
Experience with Girl Scouts is a plus.Skills and CompetenciesReliable transportation along with documentation of a valid drivers license, required automobile insurance and safe driving record.
Reliability and commitment to the Girl Scout mission and team.
Willingness to lead a group event and to engage potential members in conversation.
Excellent customer service skills.
Speak clearly and respectfully with girls and adults, listen well, and can have meaningful, helpful conversations that make others feel heard and welcome.
Write clearly in emails, messages, and forms, using correct grammar and spelling to share information in a way thats accurate and easy to understand.
Ability to be an effective team player.
Strong oral communication skills, bi-lingual, a plus.
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines successfully.
Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel. Ability to learn Council programs.
Additional Requirements and AvailabilityWillingness and ability to travel within Council jurisdiction.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
Represent the Council professionally, to both internal and external audiences, and provide courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties, donors, members, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts.
Support, comply with and adhere to all GS and Council policies in a professional manner, independently and with minimal oversight.
Become a registered member of GSUSA and maintain membership during employment.
Successfully pass background investigation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands:Ability to sit or stand for up to five (5) hours at a time.
Must be able to perform moderate physical activity, including walking, using hands and fingers, bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and in writing.
Must have good vision, including the ability to see up close and at a distance, distinguish colors, see peripherally, judge depth, and adjust focus.
Good hand-eye coordination is important due to the physical nature of some tasks.
Must be able to occasionally lift or move boxes and materials weighing up to 35 pounds without help.

Work Environment:Work is performed in a mix of indoor/outdoor environments such as community centers, youth centers, schools, gyms, parks, and other public or program-based locations.
Occasional work may take place outdoors during events or activities and may involve exposure to seasonal weather conditions.
Environments may vary in temperature, space layout, and noise level, with some locations being more active or louder than a typical office.
The noise level can range from quiet to moderately loud, especially during youth programs or community events.
