Job Description

Performs housekeeping duties as designated to ensure a safe environment by AORN Standards. Works with surgical team to move large equipment and supplies into the OR to assist in set up. Assists with opening sterile supplies under the direction of the surgical team. Assists in instrument cleaning and sterilization under the direction of the surgical team. Works with the surgical team to remove dirty instruments, suction canisters and other items as required. Assists the patient care team to ensure smooth operations and focus on customer service. Serves the population from pediatric to geriatric as defined in Structure Standards.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.
Nursing Assistant Certification in the State of Maryland preferred and previous experience in OR setting.

BCLS certification required.
Computer experience preferred.

Ability to: a) Read, write and comprehend medical terminology; b) Effectively convey verbal and written information; c) follow directions; d) perform simple mathematical calculations correctly; e) respond to emergency situations appropriately; f) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts; g) effectively function as a member of a collaborative team; h) organize and manage time effectively, setting appropriate priorities; i) comply with JCAHO and OSHA standards; and j) maintain confidentiality
