Job Opportunity: Maintenance Technician
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Job Location: Spartronics; 2333 Reach Rd; Williamsport, Pennsylvania 17703
Hours/Days of Position:3PM - 11PM
At Spartronics, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic, electrical, mechanical, and automation equipment within an EMS (electronics manufacturing services) facility. You’ll perform both reactive repairs and planned preventive maintenance to support production uptime, safety, and compliance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain production machinery such as SMT, test, wave-solder, dispensing, and conveyor systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, inspections, and calibration activities.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, electrical prints, and technical manuals.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic subsystems.
- Install new or replacement components (motors, sensors, circuit boards, drives, etc.).
- Support automation upgrades.
- Maintain logs, repair records, and parts inventories.
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, and production teams to minimize downtime.
- Adhere to safety, GMP, participate in lock out/tag out and housekeeping initiatives.
Key Metrics and Focus Areas
- Equipment Uptime: Minimize unplanned downtime; adhere to MTTR and MTBF KPIs.
- PM Compliance: Meet all scheduled maintenance completion targets.
- Safety & Quality: Zero safety incidents; maintain GMP/compliance scores.
- First-Time Fix Rate: Strive for repairs completed without repeat visits.
- Cost Control: Spare parts usage within budget; proactive cost-savings initiatives.
- Documentation: Timely, accurate work-order closure (CMMS); calibration and test records.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in electronics, electrical, or mechanical fields preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in maintenance within an industrial, EMS, PCB, or other relevant manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with voltmeters
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity (hand/power tools, alignment, rigging).
- Ability to interpret electrical diagrams,
- Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Commitment to safety protocols and GMP/environmental guidelines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of PLCs such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, VFDs, robotics, and motion control systems.
- Experience with schematics for PCBs, test fixtures, and industrial automation.
- Electrical licensure (Journeyman/Electrical)
- Background in pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, and mechanical fabrication.
- Experience with instrumentation, sensors, and calibration (thermocouples, pressure, analog/digital transmitters).
- Familiarity PM scheduling, and continuous improvement (5S, Lean).
Physical Requirements / Essential Functions
Lifting & Mobility: Lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly; frequent bending, climbing, stooping, standing.
Motor Skills: Requires precise finger/hand coordination and limb flexibility.
Sensory Demand:
- Good near and far vision, hearing sensitivity; ability to work with close mechanical tolerances.
- Work may require multi-shift availability, occasional overtime, and emergency response.
- Use of PPE—safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, LOTO, lock-out devices—is mandatory.
- Exposure to noise, vibration, temperature variations, oils, and manufacturing rigging environments.
