Our client is seeking an associate to work closely with senior associates and partners, providing critical tax counsel to project developers, lenders, and investors on cutting-edge deals involving solar, wind, geothermal, battery storage, carbon capture, green hydrogen, and similar projects.

Responsibilities:

• Advise clients on tax-related aspects of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and geothermal developments.

• Collaborate with senior associates and partners to structure and execute tax-efficient project financing strategies.

• Conduct in-depth research on federal tax laws and renewable energy incentives, including tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act.

• Assist with partnership taxation matters and provide guidance on complex financial structures.

• Review and draft tax-related documentation for project developers, lenders, and investors.

• Support transactions involving renewable energy technologies such as carbon capture, green hydrogen, and electric transmission.

• Stay updated on emerging trends and legislative developments in the renewable energy sector.

• Contribute to the resolution of tax issues in collaboration with cross-functional legal teams.

• Participate in client meetings to provide insights and recommendations on tax strategies.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal tax regulations and guidelines.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a tax lawyer, with a focus on project finance or related areas.
• Familiarity with renewable energy incentives and tax credits, including those outlined in the Inflation Reduction Act.
• Strong knowledge of partnership taxation and federal tax law.
• An LLM in taxation is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated academic excellence and strong analytical skills.
• Prior experience working in a large law firm setting is highly desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage complex transactions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective client engagement.
