Job Summary
The Technical Engineer (On-Site Service Engineer) is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of maritime manufacturing equipment and systems at customer sites. This role serves as the technical face of the company, ensuring reliable operation of products while delivering high-quality service and customer support in demanding marine environments.
Key ResponsibilitiesOn-Site Technical Support

Install, commission, and test maritime equipment and systems on vessels and at shipyards

Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and system upgrades

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and/or automation issues

Execute repairs efficiently to minimize vessel downtime
Customer & Field Support

Provide technical guidance and training to ship crews, operators, and client engineers

Act as the primary technical contact during on-site service visits

Prepare service reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation

Communicate findings and recommendations to customers and internal teams
Compliance & Safety

Ensure work complies with maritime regulations, classification society rules, and company standards

Follow safety procedures for shipboard and shipyard environments

Support audits, inspections, and commissioning approvals when required
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with engineering, production, and sales teams to resolve field issues

Provide feedback from the field to improve product design and reliability

Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and harbor/sea trials when needed
Qualifications & ExperienceEducation
-
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field
Experience
-
2–5+ years of experience in on-site service, field engineering, or marine technical support

Experience with maritime equipment such as propulsion systems, deck machinery, automation systems, power systems, or industrial machinery (depending on company focus)
Technical Skills

Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and/or control systems

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals

Familiarity with marine standards, class societies (DNV, ABS, LR, BV, etc.), and shipyard operations

Proficiency with service tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic software

Excellent communication and customer-facing skills

Ability to work independently in remote or high-pressure environments

Flexible and adaptable to irregular schedules and urgent service calls
Travel & Working Conditions

Frequent travel, including international assignments

Work onboard vessels, in shipyards, ports, and offshore environments

Willingness to work extended hours when required during commissioning or breakdowns
