Job Summary

The Seasonal Worker performs general labor, maintenance, landscaping, and construction-related duties across various departments and work sites. The position works under direct supervision and may assist maintenance, electrical, mechanical, and sewer operations teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Cut and remove grass, weeds, and vegetation around ditches and drainage channels.
  • Clean and clear basins, ditches, drainage channels, and floodwall levees.
  • Assist with cleanup following sanitary sewer overflows and rain events.
  • Maintain designated sections of the Louisville Loop and levee areas.
  • Operate weed trimmers, lawn mowers, small hand tools, and other equipment.
  • Remove debris from work areas, drainage channels, ditches, and levees.
  • Perform painting and other general labor duties.
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of sewer cleaning and flushing equipment.
  • Assist with repair and replacement of property service connections, main sewers, manholes, and catch basins.
  • Assist electrical and mechanical personnel with various projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must successfully pass the CAPS test.
  • Must demonstrate safe work habits.
  • Must have a reliable means of communication during off-duty hours.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding general labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, climb, crawl, push, pull, and reach.
  • Ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined areas.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors and in varying weather conditions.


Work Environment

  • Primarily performed at construction and outdoor work sites.
  • May involve wet or damp areas, ditches, drainage channels, sewer-related areas, and uneven terrain.
  • May involve exposure to dust, grass, weeds, insects, gases, oils, solvents, gasoline, and pesticides.
  • Work may involve loud equipment and machinery.
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.
