About the Opportunity

A leading independent renewable energy developer and owner/operator of utility-scale battery energy storage projects is seeking a Manager, Interconnection Execution Engineering to join its growing Project Development team.

\n


\n

This is an opportunity to play a critical role in delivering grid-scale energy storage projects from executed Interconnection Agreement (IA) through engineering, construction, commissioning, and commercial operation. The company has a strong development pipeline across multiple U.S. markets and offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment with significant growth opportunities.

Position Overview

\n

This role serves as the technical lead for transmission and interconnection execution throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will work closely with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, EPC contractors, engineering teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure all interconnection obligations are successfully executed after the Interconnection Agreement has been secured.

\n

This position is execution-focused rather than queue-management focused and is ideal for someone who has successfully delivered utility-scale renewable or battery storage projects through construction, testing, energization, and commercial operation.

\n

Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Lead execution of interconnection requirements following execution of the Interconnection Agreement (IA)
  • \n

  • Coordinate utility, transmission owner, and ISO/RTO requirements through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and energization
  • \n

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with utilities, transmission providers, and regulatory stakeholders
  • \n

  • Review engineering packages throughout the design process (30%, 60%, 90%, IFC)
  • \n

  • Support equipment selection and technical evaluation of major electrical equipment
  • \n

  • Ensure compliance with utility standards, NERC requirements, and applicable interconnection obligations
  • \n

  • Partner with EPC contractors, engineering consultants, and asset management teams to resolve technical issues
  • \n

  • Identify and mitigate transmission and interconnection risks across active projects
  • \n

  • Support due diligence activities for project acquisitions and pipeline development
  • \n

  • Monitor transmission planning activities, tariff updates, and regulatory developments impacting project execution
  • \n

Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred)
  • \n

  • 4+ years of interconnection execution experience within renewable energy, energy storage, utilities, or transmission
  • \n

  • Experience executing generator interconnections from signed IA through commissioning and commercial operation
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of transmission systems, utility interconnection requirements, and power system operations
  • \n

  • Experience working across one or more major ISO/RTO markets
  • \n

  • Familiarity with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and inverter-based resources is highly desirable
  • \n

  • Working knowledge of NERC standards and utility compliance requirements
  • \n

Technical Skills

  • Power system modeling using PSS®E, PSLF, TARA, or comparable software
  • \n

  • Utility-scale transmission and distribution systems
  • \n

  • Grid integration of renewable generation and energy storage
  • \n

  • Project management across multiple concurrent projects
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of utility tariffs, interconnection procedures, and transmission planning
  • \n

Travel

\n

Approximately 25% travel to project sites, utility meetings, and industry events.
