This role includes performing machine setups and changeovers, selecting appropriate tooling, and adjusting speeds and feeds to meet production and quality requirements. The machinist inspects parts throughout the process, maintains accurate dimensions and tolerances, and keeps the work area safe, clean, and organized. This is a full-time position on a day shift schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines to produce precision parts to specification.
- Interpret blueprints and technical drawings to understand dimensions, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.
- Select proper tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material type and part requirements.
- Perform complete machine setups and teardowns for job changes in a job shop environment.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make mechanical adjustments to equipment as needed.
- Operate related equipment such as drill presses, shears, lathes, and mills when required.
- Maintain CNC machines and related equipment in good working condition and report issues promptly.
- Follow established safety procedures and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and aligned with 5S and safety expectations.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership in a job shop setting to meet production goals and schedules.
- Handle a variety of part types and materials in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on CNC machining experience, preferably with mills and/or lathes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent machine setups and changeovers.
- Knowledge of tooling selection, machining processes, and appropriate speeds and feeds.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability for machining and equipment issues.
- Experience working in a job shop or high-mix, low-volume machining environment (preferred).
- Ability to operate related equipment such as drill presses, shears, lathes, and mills.
- Competence with machine operation and machining equipment, including CNC and manual machines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards.
- Ability to work overtime as needed to support production demands.
- Comfort working in a moderate to heavy industrial environment with active machinery and noise.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in a job shop setting handling diverse, non-repetitive machining projects.
- Familiarity with both CNC and manual machining processes, including lathe and mill operations.
- Exposure to advanced CNC equipment and a variety of materials and part geometries.
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement instruments for inspection.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based production environment.
- Strong organizational skills to manage setups, tooling, and documentation in a high-mix setting.
Why Work Here?
You will join a stable, growing manufacturing environment that offers competitive pay based on experience and consistent full-time hours with overtime potential.
