Job Description

Job DescriptionHermeus is a high-speed aircraft manufacturer focused on the rapid design, build, and test of high-Mach and hypersonic aircraft for the national interest. Working directly with the Department of Defense, Hermeus delivers capabilities that will ensure that our nation, and our allies, maintain an asymmetric advantage over any and all potential adversaries.
Security is not just about standing at a gate—it is about protecting the future. We are looking for a vigilant, professional, and tech-savvy Corporate Security Officer to serve as the "face" of our facility. You will be responsible for safeguarding our most valuable assets: our people and our intellectual property. This role requires a unique blend of high-end customer service and tactical readiness. You will manage complex access control systems, monitor high-tech surveillance, and serve as the primary first responder for all on-site incidents. This position will be located at the Hawthrone office, with the expectation of moving to El Segundo later in the year.Responsibilities

  • Manage the entry and departure of all employees, contractors, and visitors. Ensure 100% compliance with badging protocols, specifically monitoring for "tailgating" and unauthorized access to restricted zones.
  • Actively monitor AI-integrated CCTV systems and intrusion detection software to identify and address anomalies before they become incidents.
  • Conduct regular and random "human sensor" patrols of the facility interior and perimeter, ensuring all sensitive areas (including SCIF-adjacent spaces) are secure.
  • Serve as the on-site lead for medical emergencies, fire alarms, and security breaches. You must be prepared to implement Defend-In-Place (DIP) protocols and coordinate with local law enforcement.
  • Enforce "Clean Desk" and "Clear Screen" policies. Monitor for unauthorized photography or data mishandling in production areas.
  • Provide a professional, welcoming presence at the front desk, assisting visitors while maintaining a high level of situational awareness.
  • Process visitor requests and employee badge requests.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years in corporate security, military, or law enforcement.
  • Comfortable using digital incident reporting tools, Slack/Teams for communication, and modern Access Control Systems (e.g., Avigilon).
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (up to 4 hours) and respond quickly to physical emergencies.
  • Proven ability to handle highly sensitive, proprietary information with absolute integrity.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • A customer service mindset—balancing professionalism with approachability.
  • Ability and willingness to work onsite from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Active U.S. security clearance.
  • Experience in aerospace or defense industry (NISPOM/ICD 705 environments).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.
  • Experience with Jira or other ticketing systems.
  • Valid CA Guard Card.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certification.
  • Experience with Airtable and Traction visitor management system.
  • Basic familiarity with NISPOM, DCSA, or other federal security requirements.
  • Experience helping with visitor logs, access badges, or compliance documentation.
  • Prior exposure to handling sensitive or confidential information in an office or HR setting.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong written communication skills for drafting or polishing documents.
