About the Position
Seeking a Database Architect I to support a federal client. This role will focus on designing, modeling, and optimizing the logical and physical relationships of federal transit data to support validation, reporting, and analytics.
The duties of this position will be performed remotely, with travel to client meetings or events as needed.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design, model, and document data relationships and database architectures to support a variety of user needs.
- Define information elements, data flows, storage requirements, and reporting capabilities.
- Build and maintain entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) and related documentation.
- Recommend and implement performance-oriented architecture, including pipelines connecting back-end and front-end systems.
- Support database normalization, validation, and data integrity across multiple environments.
- Collaborate with federal IT and data teams to ensure compliance with FTA standards and requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical, engineering, scientific, or computer science discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in database architecture/design, including work with at least two database systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB).
- Experience building ERDs, designing data pipelines, and optimizing database performance.
- Federal contract or FTA experience strongly preferred.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel as required.
