Job DescriptionWe are looking for a skilled Legal Secretary to join our team on a contract basis in Hamilton, New Jersey. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide critical administrative and legal support within the dynamic field of personal injury litigation. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct client intake and gather necessary medical records to support legal cases.
• Prepare and draft pleadings, discovery demands, responses, and motions with precision.
• File documents electronically with State and Federal courts using appropriate systems.
• Monitor deadlines and ensure all tasks are completed within the required timeframes.
• Coordinate schedules for attorneys, mediations, court appearances, settlement meetings, and trials.
• Collaborate with witnesses and other law firms to organize depositions and trial testimonies.
• Perform administrative tasks such as scanning, copying, filing, mailing, and handling general office duties.
• Draft and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and reports to ensure accuracy.
• Process expense reimbursements and service invoices as required.
• Prepare settlement disbursement reports and manage departmental mail efficiently.• Minimum of two years’ experience in personal injury litigation.
• Familiarity with legal terminology, pleadings, discovery processes, and court procedures.
• Proficiency in NJ E-Court Filing System and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using legal case management software, ideally FileVine.
• Multilingual abilities in Spanish, Russian, Gujarati, or Hindi are a plus.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.
• Demonstrated discretion, professionalism, and ethical judgment in all communications.
• Capacity to adapt to new technologies and tools in the legal field, including AI advancements.
