Job Description
We are hiring skilled Shipyard Mechanics across multiple specialties to support shipbuilding and ship repair projects. Open positions include Valve Mechanics, Pump Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, and Drydock Mechanics. Candidates with a valid DBIDS credential or who are eligible to obtain DBIDS access are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:

Valve Mechanics: Repair, install, and test shipboard valves (steam, hydraulic, air, water, etc.) to ensure operational readiness.

Pump Mechanics: Inspect, overhaul, and repair centrifugal, positive displacement, and other shipboard pumps.

Diesel Mechanics: Maintain and repair diesel engines, generators, and auxiliary machinery.

Drydock Mechanics: Support docking/undocking operations, perform mechanical work on dock systems, pumps, and related equipment.

Perform troubleshooting, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and operational testing of assigned equipment.

Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and work specifications.

Use proper hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments to complete work to shipyard standards.

Adhere to all safety, quality, and shipyard compliance requirements.

Collaborate with other trades and supervisors to complete assigned projects on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications:

Proven mechanic experience in one or more specialties (valve, pump, diesel, or drydock).

Must have or be eligible to obtain DBIDS access (clean background and security clearance required).

Ability to work in a shipyard environment (confined spaces, heights, outdoors, various weather conditions).

Proficiency with shipboard systems, tools, and equipment.

Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.

Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior U.S. Navy ship repair or new construction experience.

OSHA 10/30 certification.

Trade certifications (NCCER, Marine Mechanic, Diesel Certification, etc.).

Experience reading NAVSEA Standard Items or shipyard work packages.
