Job Description

We are looking for an associate attorney to join our location in Rocklin. We are seeking a full-time/part-time Associate attorney that can work in-office to assist our attorney in drafting legal documents, overseeing cases, and interacting with clients as needed. Applicants must be a team player that is highly organized and detail oriented. The candidate should be a quick learner that is motivated and able to meet deadlines.

Primary duties will include: meeting with clients, drafting pleadings, administering depositions, propounding and responding to discovery, conducting research, writing motions, making court appearances, arguing motions, participating in trials, interviewing witnesses, drafting agreements, negotiating settlements, attending mediations, and arbitrations, handling family law cases and other activities requested by the partners.

Responsibilities

- Manage cases to ensure all legal work is completed in a timely manner, calendar dates, keep clients fully informed on the progress of their cases, and organize trial notebooks, exhibits, and files.
- Draft and prepare legal documents, formal discovery requests and responses, notices, requests for , motions and draft declarations.
- Legal research including statutory, case law and local rules.
- Process mail in and mail out.
- Draft and revise detailed status letters to clients.
- Efiling, document preparation for filing and service.
- May perform other similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this position description, but which are consistent with the general level of the job and responsibilities described.

Can effectively manage multiple caseloads by:
\n

- Opening & closing files in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
- Ability to complete all appropriate office reports in a timely manner, including timesheets, case counts and conflict reports.
- Maintaining files in an orderly manner according to office policy.
- Properly documenting court proceedings, contacts and case developments.
- Maintaining an accurate calendar of upcoming hearings for each case.
- Can prioritize & allocate time and resources effectively.
- Can follow office policies and procedures.

Qualifications
\n
- \n
- Must be an active member in good standing with California State Bar Association.
- California Bar License.
- Bachelor’s Degree or J.D. degree
- Must pay attention to detail and organization.
- Recommended 2+ years of experience working under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm or in the second year of Law School or Completion of an approved paralegal program or similar experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Knowledge of Word-Perfect, Amicus and Time Slips a plus.
- Family Law experience a PLUS

· *Desire to make court appearances, argue motions, and to participate in hearings

· *2+ years of experience as a licensed attorney.
\n
· * Detail-oriented with strong drafting and negotiating skills and the ability to communicate legal subject matter to non-attorneys.

· *Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, business judgment, and strategic legal thinking.
\n
· *Ability to manage workflow independently to meet firm deadlines while achieving business and risk management objectives.
\n
· *Courtroom experience preferred but not a prerequisite.
\n
· *Knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure
