Job Responsibilities
- Safely operate transit and shuttle buses transporting passengers throughout the UConn campus and greater Willimantic area.
- Follow all traffic laws, company policies, and safety procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers.
- Assist passengers with boarding, exiting, and transportation needs.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional vehicle environment.
- Complete required reports, logs, and documentation accurately and on time.
- Report vehicle maintenance concerns, accidents, incidents, or service disruptions promptly.
- Maintain communication with dispatch and supervisory staff.
- Cover open routes and driver absences as needed.
- Adhere to all safety, attendance, and operational requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Valid Connecticut CDL Class A or B.
- Passenger (P) Endorsement.
- No Air Brake Restriction.
- F, V, A, or S endorsement preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of driving experience (personal or professional).
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Ability to meet scheduling and operational needs.

Additional Requirements
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, including testing for marijuana.
- Compliance with all safety, attendance, and performance requirements.
- This position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, post-accident, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations and WRTD policies.
