Diesel Technician - Fleet - $28.00 - $32.00 per hour

Kaiser Transport, Inc is seeking a hard-charging, highly motivated person for the position of Fleet Diesel Technician. We will train the right person who has technical training from an accredited program. This is a full-time, 2nd shift position with responsibilities in routine and preventative maintenance. Kaiser Transport, Inc is the leading LTL step-deck, double-drop, trucking Company that runs an OTR Peterbilt fleet, specializing in hauling machines and equipment. Kaiser Transport, Inc runs an elite fleet of 2020 or newer 389/589 Peterbilts and Reitnouer step-deck and double-drop trailers.

Diesel Mechanics at Kaiser are imperative to the safe and efficient operation of our Fleet. Diesel Mechanics report to the Fleet Manager and performs the following:

  • Inspection/inventory and repair of semi-trucks/trailers
  • Inspect/repair of material handling equipment
  • Inspection/repair of general-purpose company vehicles
  • Assist in the setup of new equipment
  • Perform basic maintenance on Company Fleet trucks & trailers
  • Tire changes
  • Electrical repairs
  • Oil changes
  • Welding
  • Brake replacement
  • Shop Maintenance-Cleaning

KEY JOB Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical training in accredited program (preferred)
  • Capable of proactively seeking out needed repairs
  • Speak and read English
  • Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written directions from supervisor and/or co-workers
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have your own tools
  • Must have excellent body coordination
  • Must be able to work at possible heights exceeding 18 feet
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 130 pounds
  • Ability to Push & Pull from moderate to maximum effort
  • Ability to bend at waist and to kneel while possibly lifting at the same time
  • Ability to reach, twist, pushing, pulling, climb, kneel, and bend.
  • Must have experience with computers, troubleshooting tools, and typing.
  • Have adequate body balance to climb, bend, lift, and crawl around and over cargo

This is a 2nd shift, full-time position. Fleet Diesel Technicians work a minimum of 40 hours a week. Fleet Diesel Technicians are exempt from overtime per FLSA regulations. Hourly rate includes weekly discretionary performance pays.
