Custodian (Front Line Team Member) 2nd Shift

We are seeking dependable Custodians to join our team in a higher education facility. This role is responsible for general cleaning and custodial duties to ensure a safe, clean, and secure environment. Candidates must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and maintain a professional attitude while performing physically demanding tasks.

Location: Overland Park, KS (Educational Facility)
Employment Type: Full-time, Contingent Labor
Work Conditions: Educational / Facility Services Environment
Pay: $15.75 per hour
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 3:00pm-11:30pm
Background Requirements: Level 3 – Basic background check
Other Requirements: Slip-resistant shoes and long pants (no holes) required.

Position Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, safety, and order within a large educational facility. This includes daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas, operating cleaning equipment, and responding to special requests and emergency cleanups.

Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:

Perform daily custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal.
Clean restrooms, classrooms, offices, lunchrooms, and other assigned areas.
Operate custodial equipment including vacuums, floor polishers, and scrubbers.
Maintain cleanliness of walkways, entrances, and common spaces.
Assist with setup of rooms and furniture for meetings, events, or classroom use.
Report safety hazards, maintenance issues, or needed repairs promptly.
Respond to spills, biohazard cleanups, and other urgent custodial needs.
Lock/unlock doors and ensure building security as assigned.
Comply with safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment, including PPE protocols.
Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

Knowledge of cleaning methods, tools, and custodial equipment.
Ability to follow safety procedures, including Bloodborne Pathogens protocols.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. as required.
Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist for extended periods.
Must pass required Level 3 – Basic background check.
Slip-resistant shoes and appropriate attire required.

Good communication skills for interacting with staff, visitors, and supervisors.
Flexibility to handle changing priorities and emergency requests.
