Responsibilities:
- Hospice & End of Life Personal Care:
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and incontinence care
- Support safe transfers, repositioning, and comfort-focused mobility
- Provide bedside, vigil, and overnight presence as needed
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and dignified environment
- Comfort & Daily Living Support:
- Assist with light meal preparation, comfort foods, and hydration as tolerated
- Support daily routines based on client preferences and hospice guidance
- Perform light housekeeping to maintain a peaceful living space
- Medication Support (non-medical):
- Provide medication reminders as directed by family or hospice staff
- No medication administration or clinical tasks
- Emotional Support & Companionship:
- Offer quiet companionship, emotional reassurance, and attentive presence
- Support family members with patience, empathy, and respectful communication
- Understand and honor cultural, spiritual, and end-of-life wishes
- Observation & Communication:
- Observe and report changes in clients' health status to the care team.
- Document care provided and any notable observations.
- Collaborate respectfully with hospice nurses, social workers and care teams.
Qualifications:
- Hospice, end-of-life, or vigil care experience
- Comfort working in emotionally sensitive situations.
- Professional, compassionate demeanor
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as a caregiver or similar role preferred
- Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively within a team
