Qualifications:
Must be 25 years of age or older
Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must possess a valid drivers' license and have not less than five years of driving experience with an unrestricted operators' license.
Must be willing to obtain within 60 days a CDL license with P and S endorsements and drive routes as needed. (Training provided)
TBI/FBI background check is required
* DCS background check is required.
D.O.T. physical is required * Pre-employment and random drug testing required.
CPR and First Aid training * Annual MVR. *
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of diesel and fuel engine maintenance and repair
Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs independently
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and physical exam
Ability to access and use service materials
Ability to operate a bus
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Two years' experience in bus/ vehicle fleet maintenance.
- Performs motor oil changes, filter changes, lubricate vehicle engine parts and wheel bearings.
- Inspects vehicle/bus for any extra needed repairs.
- Must have a working knowledge of air brakes (disk and drum) for replacement.
- Performs tire repair and tire mounting.
- Knowledge of electrical wiring, cameras, vehicle/bus lights.
- Ability to maintain accurate repair records.
- Ability to perform (light) repair on various types of heavy duty diesel and gas engines.
- Must provide and have a wide variety of tools needed for job.
- Road test and inspect all vehicles after repairs are made to ensure safety.
- Build positive relationships with all school district staff.
- Must be available for before and after-hour service calls.
Physical Requirements: Moderate exposure to bruises and cuts. Must be able to stoop, crawl, reaching hand/arm. Some heavy lifting may be required. Moderate exposure to vehicle fumes and chemicals.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used:
Wheel balancing equipment; tire repairing equipment; small hand tools; power tools; welding torch; torque wrench; jack and lift equipment; school bus and district vehicles.
Posture:
Moderate standing, frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Motion:
Moderate walking, climbing; frequent grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; moderate driving
Lifting:
Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment:
Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours;
