Job Summary
The Investigative Specialist is responsible for providing investigative and administrative support for claims-related matters and special projects. This role conducts preliminary investigations, manages information requests, coordinates with external vendors, and prepares professional correspondence and documentation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary investigations on newly assigned matters.
- Run and submit ISO searches on assigned cases.
- Request social media investigations, background searches, and medical canvas searches through external vendors.
- Assist with processing contractor insurance referrals related to claims matters.
- Draft professional, template-based correspondence to plaintiff attorneys and other stakeholders.
- Request and obtain Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) records and New York City Notices of Claim.
- Maintain accurate records, case documentation, and data entry within applicable systems.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to support investigative activities and case resolution.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining attention to detail.
- Provide support on additional projects and assignments as needed.
- Maintain regular attendance and adhere to established processes and procedures.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in investigations, investigative support, claims administration, insurance, private investigation, utility operations, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience conducting investigations and managing investigative support activities.
- Strong organizational and data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience drafting professional correspondence and documentation.
- Ability to remain composed and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard business systems.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Public Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.
