Engineering Technician II
Job Details
Performs pilot production activities for Engineering and Ceramics products, including but not limited to high temperature ceramic coating and patterning processes. In addition, assists with engineering activities for development and implementation of new products, tooling and manufacturing processes, including but not limited to performing experiments, data collection, documentation, and other laboratory functions. Works independently on assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
- Works with Engineering Department and Program Management to develop and release procedures, fixtures, and equipment for new processes, new products, and process improvements
- Develops design documentation, test procedures, Bills of Materials, and manufacturing work instructions as directed
- Assists in the successful implementation of new manufacturing processes, procedures, materials, tooling and techniques into production
- Coat substrates utilizing appropriate apparatus and equipment
- Demonstrates mastery of processes/procedures and the importance of following processes in the prescribed manner while, able to report any discrepancies in either verbal or written form to the appropriate lead
- Troubleshoot problems and communicate major issues with Management
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or (GED) or equivalent experience with emphasis on math or science
- Minimum of 4 years manufacturing / engineering experience
- Ability to calculate figures and perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division of whole and fractional numbers, metric and unit conversions, geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to read, interpret, and generate content for manufacturing documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, assembly and test work instructions, procedure manuals, and engineering drawings
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and assembly instructions with minimal supervision
- Able to apply technical knowledge and skills in basic optical, mechanical, and electronic theories and standardized analytical and evaluative methods, techniques, procedures and/or policies which relate to test and evaluation of assemblies, processes and systems
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively one-on-one
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite of tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college or vocational training in physical science, mathematics or engineering field, Associates degree in physical science, mathematics or engineering field, or degree in engineering technology strongly preferred
- Previous hands-on experience with precision manufacturing techniques preferred
- Familiarity with various hand tools and machining equipment
- Ability to assemble and interact with custom robotic equipment to complete assigned tasks
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to learn additional engineering software tools, as needed
