Job DescriptionLHH is collaborating with a well-regarded law firm in Jacksonville, FL, to identify a Legal Assistant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. The successful candidate will possess prior workers' compensation experience and will provide comprehensive administrative and legal support to attorneys managing workers' compensation cases. This role is ideal for an individual who is detail-oriented, organized, and seeking a pathway to permanent employment within a professional law firm environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and substantive support to attorneys handling workers' compensation matters
- Prepare, draft, and review legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings
- Electronically file documents with state and local courts in accordance with procedural requirements
- Maintain attorneys' calendars, track deadlines, and coordinate hearings
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, courts, and vendors
- Organize and maintain case files in both electronic and physical formats
- Assist with case intake, discovery, and general case management functions
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary
- Demonstrated experience in workers' compensation matters strongly preferred
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and deadlines
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
