About Rise
Rise Neurorehab Institute is a future-forward nonprofit neurorehab organization committed to identifying and removing the barriers that prevent individuals from receiving the post-acute care they need and deserve, all while helping to regain function, reignite courage, and rekindle hope after neurological injury or illness.
Rise is building a new model of neurological care in Georgia. Opening in Sandy Springs, GA in Winter 2027, our initial multi-disciplinary outpatient facility is only the beginning. Rise is also developing a comprehensive, state-of-the-art neurorehabilitation residential facility — a multi-acre campus designed to unite rehabilitation medicine and therapies with similar-missioned community organizations in a way that has never existed in our region. This future home will offer 75+ beds for specialized residential rehabilitation, comprehensive care from rehab experts, cutting-edge technology and innovation, and community programs that provide a complete continuum of post-acute care for individuals and families throughout their recovery journey.

Medical Assistant
As a Medical Assistant at Rise Neurorehab Institute, you’ll provide clinical and administrative support to our Physician and Nurse Practitioner in the delivery of outpatient physiatry care for individuals recovering from brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, and other complex neurological conditions — working with both pediatric (age 8+) and adult patients. You’ll prepare exam rooms, take vital signs, assist with procedures, and help ensure every patient visit runs smoothly, working under the direct clinical guidance of our Nurse Practitioner and Physician. Requirements:
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits and procedural interventions in accordance with established protocols.
- Retrieve patients from the waiting area and communicate with patients and families, including relaying updates and messages to the supervising Nurse Practitioner or Physician.
- Conduct patient interviews for medical histories, including recording allergies, medications, and chief complaints.
- Obtain and accurately record patient vital signs, weight, and other basic clinical measurements as directed.
- Perform delegated clinical tasks such as wound care, skin checks, dressing changes, and bladder management (including intermittent catheterization), within scope of practice and as directed by the supervising clinician.
- Recognize and promptly report changes in patient condition or situations outside delegated scope to the supervising Nurse Practitioner or Physician.
- Maintain infection control practices and sterile technique in accordance with established protocols.
- Provide exam assistance as determined by the supervising Nurse Practitioner or Physician.
- Complete clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform administrative duties supporting medical service delivery, such as organizing clinical documentation within the clinical workflow, coordinating procedure scheduling, and managing supply and equipment ordering.
- Stay current on clinical support tasks and equipment relevant to the role, as directed by the supervising clinician.
- Collaborate with physician and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive, patient-centered care.
- Assist in orienting newly hired staff to facility procedures and clinical support tasks as needed.
- Supports Rise's ongoing pursuit of CARF accreditation by maintaining compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong critical thinking and sound judgment, with the ability to recognize and report changes in patient condition to the supervising clinician, and to effectively prioritize, organize, and manage assigned tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across an interdisciplinary team.
- A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Proficiency with clinical documentation systems and electronic health records.
- Understanding of delegated clinical tasks and scope of practice as a Medical Assistant, including the ability to recognize situations requiring escalation to the supervising Nurse Practitioner or Physician.
- Proficiency in obtaining and accurately recording vital signs and other basic clinical measurements, and in preparing exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and sterile technique.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and eagerness to build skills relevant to the role.
- General knowledge of neurological diagnoses commonly encountered in neurorehabilitation, sufficient to support patient care appropriately.
- Knowledge of age-specific patient care needs across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations.
- Willingness to adapt to changing work demands and environments.
Physical Demands
- Occasional to frequent movement about the clinic and treatment areas throughout the workday.
- Ability to assist with patient transfers and positioning as appropriate, including lifting up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to push and pull up to 10 lbs frequently and up to 20 lbs occasionally, including wheelchairs and therapy equipment.
- Repetitive hand, wrist, and upper extremity movements during clinical support tasks and documentation.
- Fine motor control and hand-eye coordination sufficient to safely and accurately perform clinical support tasks within scope of practice, which may include wound care, dressing changes, and intermittent catheterization.
- Ability to sit for periods of time during documentation, patient intake, and administrative tasks.
- Visual acuity sufficient to observe patient physical presentation, movement, and procedural sites, and to read clinical documentation, diagnostic imaging, and equipment displays.
- Hearing sufficient to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members, and to monitor equipment and facility alerts.

Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certificate or diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Required Licensure / Certification:
- Medical Assistant certification from a nationally recognized certifying body (e.g., CMA, CCMA, RMA, or NCMA).
- BLS certification (active within two (2) weeks of hire and maintained annually).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of professional medical assistant experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Experience with complex neurological populations (Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke).
- Experience with pediatric populations (ages 8+).
