The Enterprise Architecture (EA) Lead - Operations is responsible for defining, governing, and evolving the enterprise architecture that supports real-time grid operations, market operations, and reliability functions of an ISO/RTO. This role ensures that business strategy, operational processes, and technology solutions are aligned to enable secure, reliable, compliant, and resilient power system operations. The role partners closely with Operations, Market Operations, IT, Cybersecurity, Planning, and Regulatory teams to guide architectural decisions across mission-critical systems while enabling modernization and operational excellence.

JOB DUTIES

  • Broadly applies principles, theories and concepts related to the profession. A seasoned, experienced professional with an in-depth/full understanding of area of specialization.
  • May provide recommendations regarding issues outside the bounds of defined procedures and practices. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Wide latitude for decisions within assignments, programs and projects; impact is generally limited to the project or department.
  • Acts as a resource to advise and may at times a lead the work of lower level professional and/or support employees. Generally, represents the department on projects and may perform in a project leadership role.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

  • Leads the definition and maintenance of enterprise and domain architectures supporting Real-Time Operations, Day-Ahead and Real-Time Markets, Transmission Operations and Reliability. EMS/SCADA, Market Management Systems (MMS), Outage Management, and Settlements
  • Ensures architecture aligns with operational priorities including reliability, availability, scalability, and recovery
  • Translates operational strategies, NERC reliability requirements, and market rules into clear architectural principles, standards, and roadmaps
  • Partners with Operations leadership to model business capabilities, value streams, and operational workflows
  • Ensures technology investments directly support grid reliability, situational awareness, and market integrity
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to Grid Operations and Market Operations leadership, IT delivery teams and solution architects, Vendors and system integrators
  • Communicates complex architectural concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Balances innovation with operational stability and regulatory compliance

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires minimum 8 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements in enterprise solution or domain architecture
  • Prefer experience within an ISO/RTO, utility, energy market, or critical infrastructure environment
  • Prefer familiarity with:
    • EMS/SCADA systems
    • Market Management Systems (MMS)
    • Grid operations and reliability concepts
    • NERC reliability and CIP standards understanding of operational constraints such as real-time performance, failover, and regulatory audits

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field (Required)
  • Master's Degree: Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related field (Preferred)
  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
  • Prefer coursework in power systems engineering

CERTIFICATIONS (all levels)

  • TOGAF (preferred)
  • NERC or other ISO/RTO certifications (preferred)

WORK LOCATION - Taylor, TX:

  • Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
  • On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
  • Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
  • Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

Expected Salary Range:
$132,078 - $224,536
