Job Title: Patient Care Associate (Evening & Night Shifts)
Location: Manhattan, NY 10019
Shift Details:

Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:15 PM

Night Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:15 AM

Flexible float between Medical-Surgical units required

Contract Length: 60 days
-
Compensation: $20/hr
Role Overview:
As a Patient Care Associate, you'll be a pivotal part of the clinical team—providing essential, compassionate support to patients and helping maintain a smooth, safe care environment. You’ll assist RNs with daily living activities, clinical tasks, and general unit operations.
What You'll Do:

Take and document vital signs, intake/output, and pain scores

Assist patients with ADLs including feeding, bathing, toileting, ambulation, and orientation

Perform basic clinical procedures such as EKGs, venipuncture, specimen collection, compression devices application, and post-mortem care

Support dietary needs—deliver and collect trays, assist with menu selection, and report intake variations

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment; manage bed-stripping, trash removal, and emergency cleanup

Conduct one-to-one and routine rounding for patient safety and comfort; document findings and escalate as needed

Use the Vocera communication system and manage general communication tasks like answering calls and greeting visitors

Facilitate unit operations—transport patients, deliver supplies or flowers, strip cubicles, assist with discharge prep, and update communication boards/discharge logs
Requirements:
-
High School Diploma or GED
-
Completion of a Patient Care Assistant, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or similar certificate program (must include EKG & venipuncture skills)

BLS or HeartSaver certification (AHA) required
-
3–9 months of healthcare or hospital experience preferred
-
Must demonstrate strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, adaptability, and physical stamina to fulfill the role effectively
