Job Description

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep production Rails experience, building and scaling systems for payments, settlements, fraud, and disputes.
  • Proven ownership of payment infrastructure at scale — whether at a high-volume marketplace or a startup that built its own systems.
  • Strong understanding of digital payments, including risk, underwriting, compliance, and settlement flows.
  • Experience scaling financial data systems, optimizing for performance, edge cases, and fault tolerance.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and own the core payments infrastructure to handle customer debits and creator payouts at scale.
  • Design systems to manage and track funding sources, ensuring capital is allocated and repaid accurately.
  • Create reliable processes for scheduling, clearing, and reconciling large volumes of payments.
  • Develop secure, scalable payment rails and integrations for ACH, card networks, RTP, and digital wallets.

You’ll work directly with the CTO, finance team and senior engineers to design, implement, and rigorously test the infrastructure that powers payments.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience building ACH/NACHA-based payment solutions from the ground up.
  • Strong understanding of batch processing, settlement cycles, and payment compliance requirements (e.g., NACHA rules).
  • Hands-on experience integrating with third-party ACH and card processors and gateways, including building APIs to initiate, batch, and reconcile payments.
  • Proficiency with Node.js and relational databases like PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud-native service patterns.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills for distributed, high-availability systems.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., AWS EventBridge, Lambda).
  • Knowledge of fintech security and regulatory frameworks.
  • Exposure to large-scale, high-throughput payment systems.
