Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to maintain accurate and timely monthly financial records for an assigned portfolio of clients. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for monthly accounting activities, reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting support, and assisting with audits and other financial projects.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines while working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and current monthly financial records for assigned clients.

  • Oversee and monitor facility financial activity and ensure transactions are properly recorded.

  • Post and review monthly revenue.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.

  • Complete monthly accounting projects, checklists, and close-related activities.

  • Review monthly Profit & Loss statements for accuracy and identify variances or issues.

  • Provide General Ledger reports and financial information to internal teams as requested.

  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management and clients.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify and resolve accounting and financial issues.

  • Proactively communicate potential concerns, financial issues, or barriers that could impact results or deadlines.

  • Assist management with the development of annual client budgets, including projected revenue, expenses, and staffing costs.

  • Update budgets throughout the year as needed.

  • Enter detailed annual budgets into the budget book and applicable financial systems.

  • Review final budgets and confirm accuracy with management.

  • Assist with external audits, financial reviews, and tax-related requests by compiling required documentation and data.

  • Review bank BBCs and related financial information.

  • Assist with training and onboarding new employees.

  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and improve workflow.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred, or currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and GAAP.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for guidance.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to quickly learn new accounting systems, software, and company policies.

  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

  • Prior accounting experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Working Conditions

This position is primarily office-based and requires extended periods of computer work and focused concentration. The Staff Accountant will interact regularly with coworkers, management, and clients.
