Locations: Shelbyville, KY
Onsite Role with Flexibility
Travel: Occasional - up to 20%
Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, leading meaningful projects, and making a real impact in a manufacturing environment? If so, we want to meet you. We are seeking a Project Engineer to lead engineering projects that directly influence safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity across our manufacturing operations. In this role, you’ll guide projects from concept through production approval, collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, and support exciting new business opportunities.
What You’ll Do
As a Project Engineer, you will:
- Lead full‑cycle engineering initiatives—from concept and design to FAI/PPAP.
- Define project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Track performance to ensure projects are delivered on time, on scope, and on budget.
- Partner with operations, quality, maintenance, safety, supply chain, and external vendors.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during launches and ongoing production.
- Coordinate customer prints, tolerance negotiations, GD&T interpretation, and product requirements.
- Plan BOMs, process routings, work instructions, setup documentation, and packaging solutions.
- Estimate cost and technical requirements for new business opportunities (tooling, equipment, CAPEX, process needs, part cost, etc.).
- Travel to support project launches and customer/ supplier engagement (up to 20%).
This is a high‑visibility role that directly supports leadership, operations, and sales to ensure successful product introductions and continuous improvement.
What You Bring
To succeed, you’ll need:
Experience
- At least two years of engineering project management or new product launches
- Manufacturing experience is highly preferred - metal forming or roll forming experience is a plus.
- Experience with ISO 9001, IATF, NADCAP, or AS9100 environments
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Engineering preferred). Equivalent combination of education and training can be considered.
- PMP certification preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances, and high‑volume production.
- Proficient with MS Office; Microsoft Project experience is a plus.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Global Shop Solutions preferred).
- Strong 2D/3D CAD skills—AutoCAD/Inventor preferred.
- Solid analytical and mathematical skills.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication—able to translate technical details for various audiences.
- Highly organized and capable of juggling multiple projects.
- Collaborative and effective at building internal and external relationships.
- Creative problem‑solving mindset.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
- Occasional evening or weekend availability.
- Must be a U.S. Person under ITAR/EAR requirements.
