The Systems Engineer III will support the DoD Chief Information Officer (CIO) in two critical areas: modernization of the DoD Information Enterprise Architecture (IEA) and the development and oversight of IT standards and technical profiles to ensure interoperability across the Department. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to assess architecture artifacts, propose standards-based solutions, and contribute to the governance of the DoD information environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Information Enterprise Architecture (5.2.2):

• Contribute to the development of a structured, web-accessible, and queryable architecture repository.
• Support transformation of static architecture documentation into dynamic, data-driven tools and platforms.
• Help coordinate across stakeholders to ensure use of authoritative data sources and alignment with enterprise architecture goals.
• Draft technical documentation and support briefings for CIO leadership regarding architecture updates and recommendations.

IT Standards and Interoperability (5.2.4):
• Provide technical support in the development and maintenance of IT standards and technical profile documentation to ensure interoperability.
• Assist in coordinating technical governance activities including the Joint Enterprise Standards Committee (JESC).
• Analyze and document IT standards to support configuration management and lifecycle planning.
• Support DISA coordination for updates to the DoD IT Standards Registry (DISR).
• Contribute to strategic planning products and technical assessments of interoperability risk.

Qualifications:

Required:
• Active Top Secret / SCI clearance.
• 5–8 years of systems engineering experience, ideally within a DoD or federal environment.
• Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., DoDAF) and modeling tools.
• Understanding of IT standards, interoperability concepts, and systems lifecycle management.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, and coordination skills.

Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• Experience with Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), DM2, SysML, or related modeling languages/tools.
• Knowledge of governance processes and coordination across large stakeholder communities.
• Certifications such as INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, SAFe Architect, or relevant DoD IT standards coursework.

Clearance Required:
