What you will do
- Create detailed drawings and 3D smart models using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD for new and existing products.
- Develop cutting patterns for intricate assemblies using AutoCAD, MPanel, and related software.
- Coordinate closely with Sales, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, and Purchasing to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Own and organize part numbers, descriptions, and manufacturing routings across parts and assemblies.
- Ensure designs comply with IBC 2024, ASCE 7-22, NFPA 701, and associated building and fire standards.
- Champion design-for-manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Partner with Purchasing to source and qualify new materials.
- Research, draft, and update product specifications based on customer needs, including on-site visits and blueprint reviews.
- Manage projects with external vendors, engineers, customers, and sales representatives to hit milestones.
- Drive timely task management to accomplish departmental and company goals.
- Be available to work beyond regular hours when priorities demand it.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- 0–5 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates encouraged to apply).
Skills and competencies
- CAD: Proficient with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (or similar CAD tools).
- Analytics: Extremely proficient with Excel and spreadsheet analysis.
- Communication: Capable of reading, analyzing, and interpreting policies, technical documents, and regulations; strong written communication for reports and business correspondence; able to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Mindset: High energy, committed to company goals, organized, and deadline-driven.
Physical demands and work setting
- Office-centric role with periodic time in production and the field.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.; frequent walking, bending, and kneeling as needed.
- Comfortable working in production areas and outdoors under varying weather conditions.
Team structure
- Reports to the Design Engineering Manager.
- Interacts with and supports colleagues at all levels of Anchor Industries.
