This position requires the individual to be at least 16 years old and hold the following certifications: Current CPR for the professional rescuer, current Standard First Aid, and current Lifeguard or Red Cross Certification. As a Swim Instructor, you must have WSI or other approved certifications.
Lifeguard Responsibilities:
1. Provide a positive pool environment for every patron, guest, and staff.
2. Remain alert, aware, and prepared to act at all times.
3. To assist members in getting in and out of pool using a waterwheel chair.
4. Be on time.
5. Be prepared with fully stocked fanny pack, whistle, and complete uniform every shift.
6. Reform water rescues and provide first aid when necessary.
7. Enforce ALL pool rules, policies, regulations, and procedures governing the conduct of guests in the aquatic facility in order to maintain safety standards.
8. Keep the pool deck and surrounding area safe, neat, clean, and free from any obstructions at all times. This includes picking up of equipment, trash and hosing the deck.
9. Keep chemical log accurate by taking necessary chemical tests at assigned times and report all unsafe
or irregular readings to the Aquatics Director.
10. Pool safety equipment is to be checked daily prior to opening the pool. Any missing or damaged equipment must be reported to the supervisor.
11. Report any hazards or broken equipment to the supervisor immediately.
12. Report all accidents and incidents by following the EMS protocol and turn in the appropriate forms into the supervisor’s box.
13. Follow all opening and closing procedures.
14. Maintain a professional and helpful attitude toward members, staff, and supervisors at all times.
15. Each lifeguard will maintain appropriate certification. No person will be allowed to work without the appropriate certification.
16. All doors/gates to the pool area must be locked when there is not a lifeguard on duty. Leaving the area unattended is grounds for dismissal.
17. Any and all other duties assigned by the supervisor pertaining to the Aquatics Department.
