JOB PURPOSE

Reports to Director of Auxiliary Services & Special Projects

Department Auxiliary Services – Institutional Administration

FLSA Status Hourly, Non-Exempt


JOB PURPOSE

To ensure a safe, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment for children is available during scheduled events on the Midwestern campus, while also managing the daily operations of the Kids for the Church (K4C) Childcare Center. This involves overseeing programming, staff, and the overall well-being of the children and their families.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Leadership

  • Provide and supervise childcare, ensuring a safe environment for the children and staff
  • Develop and maintain a biblically based, age-appropriate curriculum for the children during their time at the K4C Childcare Center.
  • Recruit and retain a qualified team of K4C staff members who prioritize the safety and spiritual well-being of the children they serve
  • Train staff on child protection and emergency response
  • Schedule staff for institutional events
  • Communicate childcare needs and scheduled events with other Midwestern departments
  • Steward department budget and communicate budget requests and adjustments with the Director of Auxiliary Services

Administration

  • Update K4C policies and procedures as needed (review and update every year)
  • Create and maintain registrations for events through KidCheck, ensuring proper staff/child ratios
  • Submit room requests as needed in Planning Center
  • Oversee the K4C webpage, updating information and working with Communications on webpage adjustments
  • Manage the K4C page within the Auxiliary Services Microsoft SharePoint
  • Communicate effectively with staff and parents through electronic means
  • Uphold cleanliness standards of K4C space, toys, and equipment, and schedule cleanings as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date ministry safe certifications and up-to-date pastoral references for all K4C staffers
  • Sustain inventory of supplies and snacks in line with the fiscal budget
  • Submit check requests for staff hours and compensation
  • Maintain an updated phone extension list
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

Including, however not limited to:

  • Christian with high integrity, actively pursuing a relationship with God
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Previous professional childcare experience/teaching experience preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take initiative independent of direct supervision.
  • Working knowledge of computers and data entry.
  • Skill in the use of MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn and operate new systems: Planning Center, KidCheck, SharePoint, Teams, etc.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred, but not required)
  • Able to multi-task, analyze workload, and prioritize as necessary for the benefit of the department
  • Able to take the initiative to complete the duties of the position without the need of direct supervision.
  • Able to learn and utilize new skills and information to improve job performance and efficiency.
  • Must be able to work independently, as well as a part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must possess a positive attitude
  • Able to show a desire and willingness to learn
  • Must be able to pass background screening, including driving record
  • Eligible to work in the United States

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Typically, 7-10 hours per week. Possibly up to 15 hours per week
  • No more than 29 hours per week
  • A flexible schedule is encouraged.May include evening and weekend work.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time at desk or computer station
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Able lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone, and in writing.

The stewardship and administration of this important servant will aid in the positive ministry-equipping experience of countless students, staff, and their families.
