Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting high school students with diverse learning needs in a welcoming educational environment. This full-time, contract role offers the chance to work closely with a manageable caseload—typically around seven students—within a cross-categorical special education classroom setting. Your focus will be on fostering academic growth and providing guidance on mild self-regulation skills, empowering each student to thrive in their learning journey.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) to address each student’s strengths and areas for growth
- Collaborating with fellow educators, support staff, and families to create a supportive, inclusive classroom
- Utilizing a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage students in academic content
- Monitoring progress, adapting instructional approaches, and maintaining accurate records
- Supporting the development of self-regulation and social/emotional skills as needed
- Participating in team meetings, professional development sessions, and school events
What we’re looking for:
- Special Education Teacher certification, with endorsement to work with high school students
- Strong understanding of cross-categorical teaching strategies
- Experience managing small caseloads and collaborating across disciplines
- Ability to build rapport and motivate students
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to fostering a safe, nurturing, and equitable learning environment
This position is a full-time role, Monday through Friday, with a 37.5-hour work week, set to begin for the NSY 26/27 academic year. You will find dedicated support from administrators and colleagues who share your commitment to student success.
