Position Overview:
We are seeking a Data Scientist to support federal government programs by applying advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques to large, complex datasets. The Data Scientist will collaborate with business leaders and analysts to transform data into actionable insights that improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and mission outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect, clean, and analyze structured and unstructured data from multiple government and contractor systems.
- Apply statistical and machine learning methods to identify trends, patterns, and predictive insights.
- Develop data models, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement data-driven solutions that support program and mission requirements.
- Ensure compliance with federal data security and privacy standards (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP, HIPAA where applicable).
- Support automation of data pipelines and integration with enterprise systems.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for government clients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).
- 3+ years of experience applying data science techniques in government or defense-related environments (federal contracting experience strongly preferred).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib).
- Understanding of cloud environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or similar).
- Strong communication skills and ability to brief senior government stakeholders.
- Active [Security Clearance Level] or ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with natural language processing (NLP), geospatial analysis, or big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Knowledge of federal data standards, government compliance frameworks, and data governance.
- Prior experience supporting defense, intelligence, or civilian federal agencies.
