Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Title Clerk to join our automotive dealership team. The Title Clerk is responsible for processing vehicle title and registration paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, maintaining accurate records, and providing administrative support related to vehicle sales transactions. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and experience in automotive title processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vehicle titles, registrations, and license plate applications accurately and timely.
- Verify all documentation required for vehicle sales, trades, and purchases.
- Submit title and registration paperwork to the appropriate state agencies.
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies and state/federal regulations.
- Prepare and maintain records of vehicle transactions and title files.
- Review deal jackets for completeness and accuracy.
- Resolve title discrepancies, liens, and registration issues.
- Process payoff information and lien releases.
- Maintain inventory of title and registration documents.
- Assist customers, lenders, and government agencies with title-related inquiries.
- Support accounting and administrative functions as needed.
- Track outstanding titles and follow up to ensure timely receipt.
QualificationsRequired
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Title Clerk, Automotive Administrative Assistant, or similar role.
- Knowledge of vehicle titling and registration processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience working in an automotive dealership environment.
- Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS) such as CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, or Dealertrack.
- Knowledge of state DMV regulations and procedures.
