Job DescriptionOur SelectLeaders client, an AV-rated law firm in Potomac, Maryland, is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Transactional Attorney. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys hands-on deal work, wants meaningful client interaction, and is motivated to build a long-term career in real estate law.The firm represents a diverse real estate client base—including residential land developers, homebuilders, multifamily and planned community developers, and commercial landlords and tenants—with the majority of projects located across Maryland, northern Virginia, and DC.
You will manage transactions from contract to closing, resolve permitting and land-use issues, and support complex development and leasing projects alongside a highly collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Heavy drafting and deal management, including purchase and sale agreements, development agreements, HOA and condominium documents, and commercial leases.
- Participate in and occasionally lead negotiation calls, then translate those discussions into clear, actionable drafting and revisions.
- Work with the paralegal to assemble ancillary documents and complete deal packages.
- Conduct and manage due diligence research, including conducting title and survey review, identifying issues, and preparing solutions.
- Support residential subdivision work and act as transactional counsel on residential subdivision projects.
- Assist in resolving permitting and transactional land-use issues, particularly in Montgomery County.
- Maintain strong, proactive communications with clients throughout each project.
- Write and publish articles on behalf of the firm with the support of firm leadership
- The firm also values and prioritizes business development and marketing efforts of its associates.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of commercial real estate transactional experience, ideally with exposure to development, leasing, or residential subdivision work.
- Drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, development agreements, HOA and condominium documents, and commercial leases.
- Experience reviewing surveys, title, due diligence, and coordinating ancillary documents.
- Maryland Bar required. DC or Virginia Bar are also preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, detail orientation, and judgment.
