The Cloud Solution SME provides hands-on technical leadership across cloud compute, storage, networking, identity, security, automation, and disaster recovery. The role is responsible for designing cloud solutions that are secure, compliant, resilient, and aligned with DOJ and CRM standards. The ideal candidate is a cloud-agnostic solution SME with a strong hybrid mindset. Capable of designing, building, and operating cloud platforms across multiple providers while navigating CRM governance, security, and operational constraints.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
  • This position requires working onsite in Washington D.C., 5 days per week

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of enterprise infrastructure or cloud engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating cloud solutions across at least two major platforms (Azure, AWS, OCI).
  • Strong Linux and Windows enterprise workload experience.
  • Experience operating in regulated federal environments.

Required Technical Experience:

  • Cloud compute services (Azure, AWS, OCI)
  • Cloud networking and hybrid connectivity
  • Object, block, file, and archive storage services
  • Cloud IAM, logging, monitoring, and security services
  • Linux, Windows OS hardening and patch automation

Preferred Experience & Best Practices:

  • Experience supporting DOJ or other federal customers.
  • Familiarity with JMD-managed enterprise services.
  • Knowledge of FedRAMP and NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Experience supporting application migrations to cloud platforms.
  • Strong documentation and architecture governance discipline.

Required Certifications (minimum of one required):

  • Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-305)
  • AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
  • OCI Certified Architect (Associate or Professional)

Preferred Certifications:

  • Terraform Associate
  • CCSP or equivalent cloud security certification
  • Security+ CE or SSCP

Responsibilities

Hybrid & Multi-Cloud Architecture:

  • Design and implement cloud solutions across Azure, AWS, and OCI integrated with on-prem CRM infrastructure.
  • Define reference architectures and design patterns for development, test, and production workloads.
  • Ensure cloud designs align with DOJ security, compliance, and audit requirements.

Compute & Platform Services:

  • Architect cloud compute platforms supporting in-house developed and Linux-based COTS applications.
  • Define OS standards, hardening baselines, lifecycle management, and patching approaches.
  • Support lift-and-shift and re-platforming strategies.

Storage & Data Services:

  • Assist in the design of object, block, file, and archive storage solutions.
  • Assist in defining lifecycle, tiering, retention, and archival policies aligned with DOJ and NARA requirements.
  • Assist in the integration of cloud storage with on-prem data platforms where required.

Networking & Connectivity:

  • Design secure cloud networking constructs (VNets, VPCs, VCNs, subnets, routing, security controls).
  • Implement hybrid connectivity between cloud platforms and on-prem environments.
  • Coordinate with DOJ JMD for enterprise network integration.

Identity, Security & Compliance:

  • Implement cloud IAM using least-privilege and separation-of-duties principles.

Disaster Recovery & Resilience:

  • Design cloud-based DR architectures supporting CRM BCP/DR objectives.
  • Define and validate RTO/RPO targets.
  • Support periodic DR testing and recovery validation.

  • Automate provisioning, compliance checks, and OS patching.
  • Reduce manual operations through repeatable workflows
