Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Database Analyst / DBA role for our client in Anchorage, AK.

Location: Remote

Duration: 6 months

Duties:

Under the direction of the IT Infrastructure Manager, the Database Analyst / DBA will develop, control, and coordinate the database environment(s). The role is responsible for ensuring database uptime and availability while providing recommendations for improvements and long-term maintenance plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying database requirements by analyzing technical needs, applications, and department operations
  • Recommending solutions for database physical structure, functional capabilities, security, data backups, and recovery specifications
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability database systems
  • Installing, maintaining, and performing performance tuning of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Developing and deploying SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Conducting daily and weekly maintenance checks, performance tuning, and security audits of production databases
  • Setting up new servers, including Microsoft Windows Server configuration if needed
  • Performing database tuning, integrity checks, and reviewing scheduled jobs
  • Working closely with the IT department and other database engineers
  • Ensuring compliance with Security Policies, Procedures, and Control Sets
  • Managing user and application access rights relevant to database software
  • Evaluating and resolving database connectivity, performance, and security issues
  • Building database security roles and authorizations upon request from application owners
  • Processing and resolving security defects/incidents reported via ITSM
  • Ensuring database design aligns with industry best practices and benchmarks

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server administration
  • Experience with SSRS and SSIS development and deployment
  • Knowledge of database security policies and best practices
  • Ability to perform performance tuning and database optimization
  • Familiarity with Windows Server configuration and maintenance
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within an IT team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Experience:

  • Minimum [X] years of experience in database administration, development, or related roles
  • Proven track record of database optimization, security, and maintenance
  • Experience working in compliance-driven environments (e.g., following security policies and procedures)
  • Hands-on experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server) are a plus

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $60.00/hour to $70.00/hour. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. In addition to salary, a competitive benefits package is also offered.
