Job Description
About the Company
The company operates a recurring service model focused primarily on manufacturing, distribution, and industrial customers. Rather than serving mainly construction sites, the business helps customers reduce waste haul costs by compacting open-top dumpsters filled with bulky materials such as pallets, crates, and packaging waste. The Houston market is the company’s largest location and serves as a major operational hub. The team includes truck operators, sales personnel, and support resources, and the business is known for high service standards, strong safety practices, and long-term customer relationships built on recurring contracts.
About the Role
We are seeking a General Manager to take operational ownership of our Houston market, the largest and most important business unit in the company. This location generates approximately $7M in annual revenue and represents a significant share of the overall business. This is not a passive oversight role. The right person will lead day-to-day execution, drive accountability across the team, ensure strong service delivery, and serve as the in-market leader for a high-performing recurring revenue operation. The business already has strong systems, SOPs, and EOS in place. What it needs now is a capable operator with strong leadership attributes, sound judgment, and the ability to grow into broader ownership over time. This role is ideal for someone with raw talent, strong leadership ability, and the capacity to learn quickly—not necessarily someone who has already held the exact title in the exact industry.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day operations of the Houston business unit
- Lead and manage truck operators and field personnel to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality service delivery
- Drive accountability, expectations, and performance management across the team
- Maintain strong culture, communication, and operational discipline in the market
- Ensure customer service issues, escalations, and cancellations are handled quickly and professionally
- Support key customer relationships and participate in important customer meetings as needed
- Partner closely with company leadership to execute business priorities and operational improvements
- Use EOS tools, SOPs, and existing processes to drive consistency and follow-through
- Monitor KPIs and help ensure the market is hitting service, retention, and performance targets
- Coordinate effectively with sales leadership and support revenue growth efforts in the market
- Step into select sales conversations or customer retention discussions when needed
- Identify problems early, solve them directly, and prevent repeated mistakes
- Build trust with leadership as someone who can increasingly take more ownership off the founders’ plate
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in operations, field services, logistics, route-based services, industrial services, home services, construction, distribution, or similar environments
- Strong people leadership skills with the ability to hold standards and drive accountability
- Comfortable leading frontline teams in a hands-on operating environment
- Able to operate within structure while also exercising sound judgment independently
- Strong communication skills with the ability to handle customers, team members, and leadership with maturity
- Experience in a role that blends operations with some level of customer-facing or sales support responsibility is preferred
- Familiarity with EOS or similar accountability/operating systems is a plus
- Military leadership background is strongly preferred
- High potential, coachable operators with strong attributes and upward trajectory are encouraged to apply
What Success Looks Like
In this role, success means taking real ownership of the Houston market’s service delivery, team performance, and day-to-day execution. The right person will reduce the need for founder intervention, improve accountability across the operation, and become a trusted leader capable of running the market with increasing independence over time.
Pay range and compensation package
- $120,000–$140,000 base salary
- 20–30% performance-based bonus
- Opportunity to grow into broader responsibility as the business continues to scale
Equal Opportunity Statement
We are committed to diversity and inclusivity in our hiring practices and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
