About the Role
Robert Half is seeking a skilled and adaptable IT Infrastructure & Network Administrator for our clients in the Madison area. This position requires a well-rounded individual with hands-on experience across virtualization, operating systems, endpoint support, and network configuration. You'll play a key part in maintaining uptime, security, and performance across the organization’s digital ecosystem.
This is a Direct/Permanent Hire role that will require a hybrid work schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain virtualized environments using container-based and VM technologies, ensuring high availability and performance across clustered systems.
- Administer identity and access management policies using centralized user authentication tools.
- Configure, support, and troubleshoot network devices, including switches, routers, and wireless equipment.
- Oversee connectivity for both on-site and remote users, including VPN access and remote endpoint configuration.
- Conduct routine diagnostics to resolve system outages and connectivity disruptions.
- Perform updates, manage system health, and troubleshoot issues within both Windows and Linux server environments.
- Reinforce system security using layered protections, user training, and device-level safeguards such as firewalls and endpoint defense tools.
- Track system metrics and analyze network traffic to ensure peak performance and preempt potential bottlenecks.
- Deliver mid- to advanced-tier support for workstation and mobile technologies, including cross-platform environments (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).
- Maintain documentation for processes, resolutions, and changes to the environment.
- Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders on ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Assist with phone system configuration and support for VoIP technologies.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed in support of operational goals.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related discipline, certifications, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience administering and scaling complex infrastructure environments.
- Proficiency in user and policy administration within centralized directory frameworks.
- Hands-on knowledge of virtual hosting platforms (e.g., cluster-based virtualization with VM/container support).
- Familiarity with enterprise-grade firewalls and network security devices.
- Strong understanding of core network services and protocols (e.g., IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
- Experience supporting and maintaining both Linux and Windows server environments.
- Proficient in configuring and supporting remote access tools and encrypted connection methods.
- Exposure to VoIP platform management and user provisioning.
- Able to provide technical support across a range of hardware, operating systems, and software tools.
- Competent in productivity tools such as spreadsheets, word processors, and email platforms.
- Excellent troubleshooting, multitasking, and interpersonal communication skills.
