Unison Systems is looking for a Manager of Data Management and Business Intelligence for our national telecommunications client.
Location: Remote;
Duration: Direct hire
The Manager, Data Management & Business Intelligence will be responsible for providing hands-on leadership to the BI and data warehouse team, supporting the BI vision, and ensuring the development and delivery of high-quality insights and analytics. This role utilizes BI tools to drive performance optimization and cost efficiency in collaboration cross-functionally across the client. This role develops and maintains a team that problem-solves, ideates, and translates insights into models and reports that cohesively and accurately tell a data-driven story.

Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000/year depending on experience

What You'll be doing:
Include but are not limited to the following:

Lead a team, comprised of both on and offshore developer and analyst resources, to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful delivery of reporting and analytics to solve business needs.

Ensure the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of data and analytics delivered to stakeholders.

Drive the implementation of efficient data warehouse and BI workflows to support analytics, reporting and other initiatives.

Manage team intake and prioritization by understanding the value and impact each request can deliver relative to effort and cost.

Manage cross team and cross department dependencies to ensure on-time delivery.

Responsible for managing the production deployment process within the team. Ensure that process standards are understood and being followed for all production releases.

Responsible for ensuring the team monitors and maintains an appropriate production support process for all key activities (nightly batch, vendor data feeds, Tableau reporting, etc).

Understand and communicate to business partners on incidents as they occur when they impact system performance, data availability or accuracy.

Encourage a culture of team-driven decision making, ownership and accountability.

Establish and promote best practices, standards, and documentation to ensure consistency, reliability and maintainability of BI and data warehouse solutions.

Manage and mentor team members to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous learning. Foster a culture of thinkers and doers instead of order takers.

Set performance expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones, performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Identify skill gaps and training needs within the team and develop appropriate development plans.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:

5+ years in direct Business Intelligence roles required
-
3+ years of direct management experience required
Skills and Abilities to be Successful in this Role

Proven experience in Business Intelligence with a strong emphasis on delivering complex reporting and analytical solutions.

Hands on experience with BI tools (Tableau preferred), cloud databases (Snowflake preferred) and ETL processes.

Demonstrated proficiency in data querying languages (SQL) and a data engineering background is required.

Ability to support a team technically on SQL and reporting concepts.

Proficiency in data modeling and data warehouse concepts.

Proven ability to gather business data requirements and drive stakeholder conversations and metric definitions based on understanding of the business and its processes and success criteria.

Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.

Ability to simplify complex concepts and insights into stakeholder backed narratives.

Demonstrated experience with cross-functional teams in a geographically and culturally diverse environment.

Exceptional strategic thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
