Job Description

Our client, a growing California-based Labor & Employment law firm, is looking for a Labor & Employment Associate with 3-7 years of defense-side employment litigation experience.


The boutique firm was founded by former AmLaw 100 attorneys represents California employers in a broad range of employment matters, from single-plaintiff disputes to complex PAGA and class action litigation. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney seeking high-level work, strong mentorship, and a clear path to partnership in a supportive environment.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • Manage employment defense matters from inception through resolution, including single-plaintiff, PAGA, and class action litigation
  • Lead all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery, taking and defending depositions, and preparing discovery motions
  • Draft, argue, and oppose substantive motions, including summary judgment motions and other key filings
  • Participate in arbitrations and trials, with opportunities to second-chair federal jury trials and take on increasing responsibility
  • Maintain strong client relationships while contributing to a collaborative team environment


Skills & Experience:

  • 3-7 years of California employment defense litigation experience
  • Active California Bar admission
  • Exclusive defense-side employment law experience, plaintiff-side experience will not be considered
  • Experience handling PAGA and class action matters strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency in discovery, depositions, motion practice, and case management
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal skills


Compensation:

  • $150,000 - $215,000 +
  • Competitive equity


Location:

  • Hybrid schedule: 3 days in the Irvine, CA or Los Angeles office
