Job Title
Residential Mortgage Loan Originator

Summary
The primary mission of this role is to support the mortgage lending process by assisting applicants with loan pre-qualification and application activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and exceptional customer service. This position interviews prospective borrowers, processes and verifies loan application information, reviews loan files for regulatory compliance, and coordinates closing activities to facilitate timely loan transactions. The role also prepares required notices, conducts post-closing reviews, provides program information to customers, and supports outreach efforts within the community. Success is measured by accurate and compliant loan processing, efficient coordination of loan activities, high-quality customer service, and the successful advancement of qualified applicants through the mortgage lending process.

  • Interview client applicants for mortgage loan pre-qualifications and or loan applications, input data into computer systems, issue disclosures, and order credit reports.
  • Verify accuracy of data on applications.
  • Review the loan file to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and requirements.
  • Coordinate closing activities with Senior Loan Processor and/or the Legal Secretary.
  • Prepare adverse action notice of all denied loans.
  • Perform post-closing review of all documents and make corrections as necessary.
  • Attend outreach activities as needed.
  • Aid primary staff in the area by answering telephones, assisting walk-in customers, and providing general program information to interested parties.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and adhere to confidentiality policy.
  • Perform other related duties as requested and assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Residential Mortgage Loan Originator (RMLO) license through the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending.
  • 5 or more years of experience in mortgage loan origination, processing, and closing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong written and verbal communication.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain a Notary Public Commission.
  • Experience with Encompass Mortgage software.
  • Experience with accounting software.
  • Obtain clearance against the US General Services Administration (GSA) Excluded Party List.
  • Obtain clearance against the HUD Limited Denial of Participation List (LDP List).
  • Obtain clearance against the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Suspended Counterparty Program (SCP) list.


Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While carrying out job duties, the employee must regularly communicate verbally and listen. Additionally, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use their hands for tasks such as handling or manipulating objects, and reach with their hands and arms.

Expected Work Hours
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the organization's core work hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A minimum of 40 hours per week is expected.

Travel
This position may require occasional travel outside the area for training.

Work Authorization
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of eligibility will be required at the time of hiring.
