An Assistant Manager is responsible for implementing workflow procedures based on direction from the company’s General Manager. Their duties include supervising employees during day-to-day tasks, providing customer support in escalated situations and managing the overall workflow of a workplace.
While there are many duties and responsibilities for an Assistant Manager, some include:
- Develop good customer relationships.
- Smooth out problems within the workplace.
- Address employee and customer concerns.
- Develop strategies for better workplace efficiency and goal achievement.
- Email and phone correspondence.
- Liaise between management, customers, and employees.
- Provide direction to staff.
- Fill in for General Manager (GM) in times of absence. Make executive decisions, hold meetings, and provide accountability.
- Updating Monday.com to keep GM and Owners aware that tasks are being completed.
- Helping customers.
- Working with GM on upcoming sales
- Prepare for events that GM/Owners have planned.
- Assist with animal cleaning/care.
- Provide a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
- Check customers out on POS system.
- Receiving orders, putting product away, stocking shelves, and pricing product.
- Other duties General Manager may assign
Since Assistant Managers are responsible for many crucial business aspects, they should be equipped with a variety of skills and qualifications including:
- Excellent verbal communication, and the ability to convey important information clearly and effectively.
- Comfortable handling and caring for animals.
- Strong leadership and initiative
- Excellent delegator and mediator
- People person, able to provide excellent customer service.
- Quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent time management
- Responsible, goal oriented and organized.
- Strong attention to detail and able to multitask.
Ability to work weekends is a MUST.
