Job Description

An Assistant Manager is responsible for implementing workflow procedures based on direction from the company’s General Manager. Their duties include supervising employees during day-to-day tasks, providing customer support in escalated situations and managing the overall workflow of a workplace.

While there are many duties and responsibilities for an Assistant Manager, some include:

  • Develop good customer relationships.
  • Smooth out problems within the workplace.
  • Address employee and customer concerns.
  • Develop strategies for better workplace efficiency and goal achievement.
  • Email and phone correspondence.
  • Liaise between management, customers, and employees.
  • Provide direction to staff.
  • Fill in for General Manager (GM) in times of absence. Make executive decisions, hold meetings, and provide accountability.
  • Updating Monday.com to keep GM and Owners aware that tasks are being completed.
  • Helping customers.
  • Working with GM on upcoming sales
  • Prepare for events that GM/Owners have planned.
  • Assist with animal cleaning/care.
  • Provide a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
  • Check customers out on POS system.
  • Receiving orders, putting product away, stocking shelves, and pricing product.
  • Other duties General Manager may assign

Since Assistant Managers are responsible for many crucial business aspects, they should be equipped with a variety of skills and qualifications including:

  • Excellent verbal communication, and the ability to convey important information clearly and effectively.
  • Comfortable handling and caring for animals.
  • Strong leadership and initiative
  • Excellent delegator and mediator
  • People person, able to provide excellent customer service.
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent time management
  • Responsible, goal oriented and organized.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to multitask.

Ability to work weekends is a MUST.
