The Personal Care Assistant provides non-medical, in-home support to clients who need assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) to maintain independence and quality of life. This role ensures compassionate, respectful care while following individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Support mobility and transfers, including safe use of assistive devices.
- Provide meal preparation, feeding assistance, and encourage proper nutrition.
- Perform light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, tidying client’s living area).
- Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation.
- Monitor and report changes in client’s condition to the supervisor or nurse.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols at all times.
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Prior experience in home health, caregiving, or related field preferred.
- Skills: Compassionate, reliable, good communication skills, ability to follow care plans.
- Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Physical ability to lift/move clients as needed
Work Environment
- In-home setting; may involve travel between client residences.
- Flexible schedule; may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
