Job Description

About Us
Kolcun Tree Care has been serving the Lowcountry and Coastal Empire for 25+ years with a reputation built on expertise, integrity, and long-term client care. As we continue to grow our residential client base, we are seeking a Sales Arborist with strong Plant Health Care (PHC) knowledge to join our team.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys diagnosing tree and shrub issues, building relationships with homeowners, and offering tailored solutions that combine both tree preservation and risk mitigation.

Position Overview

The Sales Arborist will be responsible for evaluating residential properties, diagnosing tree and plant health issues, and generating proposals for pruning, removals, PHC services, and long-term care plans. You’ll collaborate closely with our PHC team and field crews to ensure quality execution and exceptional client experiences.

This position offers autonomy, the ability to help shape our PHC program direction, and the opportunity to work with a company that values professional development and science-based arboriculture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site consultations for residential clients, assessing tree structure, plant health, and site conditions.
  • Diagnose pests, diseases, soil health concerns, and abiotic stress factors.
  • Develop customized tree care and PHC treatment plans, including fertilization, injections, soil remediation, and monitoring programs.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and deliver them with clarity, confidence, and professionalism.
  • Provide risk assessments and pruning/removal recommendations when appropriate.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through follow-up visits, check-ins, and excellent communication.
  • Collaborate with production crews to ensure accurate job execution and high-quality work.
  • Track leads, manage sales pipeline, and meet revenue goals.
  • Participate in company safety meetings, continuing education, and industry training.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in arboriculture, tree care sales, PHC diagnostics, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of tree biology, pests/diseases, and PHC treatments common in the Southeast
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy schedule
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Preferred:

  • ISA Certified Arborist (or ability to obtain within 6–12 months)
  • TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification)
  • Pesticide Applicator’s License or strong familiarity with PHC operations
  • Experience preparing written proposals and managing sales pipelines
  • Prior experience with residential clientele in the Lowcountry or similar market

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary + commission structure (based on experience and revenue performance)
  • Health Insurance: 50% employer-covered
  • 401K with 4% company match
  • Paid Holidays:
  • Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and the full business week between Christmas Eve & New Year’s Day
  • Accrued PTO with annual rollover
  • Company vehicle, phone, and tablet provided for field sales
  • Professional development support: ISA certifications, CEUs, industry conferences, leadership training
