UXO Technician III
This opportunity is contingent upon contract award
Location: Fort Rucker, Alabama
Summary:
Provides technical support and sets standards for UXO personnel conducting ordnance response projects, performs reconnaissance, classification, disposing, transporting, storage of UXO complying with Federal, state and local laws, performs
risk-hazard analysis and maintenance and operator checks on all team equipment, and plans and supervises UXO clearance operations within the AGRC.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reconnaissance and classification of UXO.
Identifies U.S. and foreign guided missiles, bombs and bomb fuses, projectiles and projectile fuses, grenades and grenade fuses, rockets and rocket fuses, land mines and associated components, pyrotechnic items, military explosives and demolition
materials.
Supervises the location of subsurface UXO using military and/or civilian magnetometers, the excavation and recovery of subsurface UXO, construction of UXO related protective works and the location of surface UXO by visual means.
Transports and stores UXO assuring compliance with Federal, state, and local laws.
Disposes UXO by burning/detonation, preparation of an UXO disposal site, and preparation of an on-site safe holding area for UXO.
Determines UXO-related storage compatibility, supervises donning and doffing of personal protective equipment; maintenance and operator checks on all team equipment,
Prepares UXO related administrative reports according to standard operating procedures, and conducts daily team safety briefing.
Supervises the segregation of UXO-related scrap from non-UXO related scrap, safe handling procedures, performs risk hazard analyses, supervises field expedient identification procedures to ID explosive contaminated soil, and determines a magnetic azimuth / MGRS grid location using a lensatic compass and/or GPS.
Requirement:
- Previous military EOD and/or commercial UO experience in munitions response or range clearance activities.
- Minimum five (5) years UXO work experience.
- U.S. Citizen
- Able to obtain favorable background investigation
- Able to obtain security clearance
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships, professional demeanor, and attitude
- Ability to work cooperatively with military and civilian workforce
