We’re looking for someone with a creative flair and a commitment to quality to help us craft stunning desserts that keep our customers coming back for more.
What You'll Do
As a Cake Decorator at Delicious Cakes!, you’ll be an integral part of our team, responsible for creating beautiful and delicious cakes that meet our high standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: - Assembling, icing, and decorating cakes, cupcakes, and other specialty bakery items. - Designing custom cakes based on customer preferences and requests. - Prioritizing production lists and adjusting as needed to meet business demands. - Maintaining and merchandising our display cases to showcase fresh, high-quality products. - Monitoring product quality and ensuring proper rotation for freshness. - Providing exceptional customer service by addressing customer needs and offering suggestions. - Keeping your workspace clean and sanitary, adhering to food safety standards. - Performing opening, mid, and closing duties, including ensuring accurate signage and pricing. - Assisting with other tasks as assigned to support the team.
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to bring both skill and enthusiasm to the table. Here’s what we’re looking for: - Experience: At least 1 year of experience in cake decorating, preferably in a professional bakery or retail setting. - Skills: - Proficiency in cake and pastry decorating, including intermediate piping techniques and creating decorative flowers and borders. - Strong understanding of color theory for blending buttercream and coordinating palettes. - Familiarity with a variety of icings, including buttercream, ganache, cream cheese icing, whipped cream, and royal icing. - Advanced knife handling and tool safety. - Basic math skills for recipe conversions and modifications. - Personal Attributes: - Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset. - Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency. - A strong work ethic and attention to detail. - Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Physical Requirements
This role requires physical activity, including: - Lifting up to 50 pounds. - Standing/walking for 6-8 hours per shift. - Performing motions such as bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching. - Working in various temperature conditions, from freezing to hot environments. - Handling tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, and heavy machinery.
