Job Description
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on all SDR trucks and equipment. The role requires daily inspections and maintenance to ensure road worthiness and effective use. Successful candidates will complete documentation for all services and repairs in compliance with Department of Transportation rules and company policies.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventative maintenance of trucks and equipment, including inspections and basic maintenance.
- Prepare and complete paperwork or data entry for service and repair work.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation rules and company policies.
- Perform repairs on hydraulics, cylinders, brakes, electrical systems, engines, and body, including welding if necessary.
- Perform services on vehicles and equipment at predetermined intervals following company policies and regulations.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned by management.
- Attend scheduled meetings, including safety and training sessions.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in diesel troubleshooting and repair.
- Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and preventive maintenance.
- Experience with transmission, welding, fleet maintenance, and pneumatics.
- Completion of a Diesel Mechanic education program or 3 years of experience in a full-service diesel repair shop.
- CDL Class B required; Class A preferred.
- USDOT medical certificate required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Subject to drug screening as required by USDOT or company policy.
- Must complete safety and skills training as scheduled by the company.

Work outdoors at a trash site, performing duties around garbage. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and may involve exposure to various weather conditions.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
