We are seeking a highly motivated and established Hair Stylist with a strong, active client book to join our professional and modern salon in Philadelphia. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-driven stylist who wants the independence of running their own business without the overhead of a traditional lease. You manage your clients, your pricing, and your schedule, and you pay a commission to the salon owner to cover the cost of the shared space and amenities.
Responsibilities & Expectations
1. Client Management & Services
- Established Clientele Required: Must bring and maintain a substantial, active book of clients from day one.
- Service Excellence: Provide a full range of high-quality hair services, including cutting, coloring (specialty coloring a plus), styling, and treatments.
- Booking & Scheduling: Manage all your client appointments, service times, and follow-up communication independently.
- Product: Source and provide your own professional tools, supplies, and retail products (excluding shared utilities).
- Branding: Manage your own marketing efforts (e.g., social media, business cards) to maintain and grow your personal brand and client base.
2. Financial & Business Structure
- Commission Fee to Owner: The Stylist will pay a set percentage of their gross service revenue to the salon owner to cover expenses such as rent, utilities, and common area maintenance.

- Note: This is a contractor relationship. The stylist is responsible for their own taxes (1099), insurance, and personal business expenses.
- Pricing: Set and manage your own service pricing independently.
- Payment Processing: Manage your own payment processing (POS) and sales reporting.
3. Salon Professionalism
- License & Insurance: Maintain a current and valid Pennsylvania Cosmetology License and professional liability insurance.
- Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary station in compliance with all PA State Board regulations.
- Professionalism: Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and professional atmosphere within the shared salon space.
Qualifications
- Current PA Cosmetology License is Mandatory.
- Must have a verifiable, active, and loyal client base.
- Strong portfolio of work (physical or digital).
- Proficiency in self-management, financial record-keeping, and client scheduling.
- Reliable, responsible, and business-minded work ethic.
